Do the Spartans still exist?
Are the Spartans alive today?
Some modern Greeks were
descended from ancient people.
There is still a city in Greece called Sparta. But it doesn't look like an ancient city-state at all.

of Sparta?
The city that today is
called Sparta was
known to the
ancient Greeks
as Lacedaemon. (region of Laconia in the southern part of thePeloponnese peninsula). The inhabitants of Lacedaemon were called Lacedaemonians. That is why the Greek letter lambda (Λ) was on the shields of warriors from Sparta.
