There are many holidays in a year. People of Buryatia celebrate different holidays. But the most popular holiday in Buryatia is Sagaalgan. It is the holiday of the White Moon. We celebrate Sagaalgan in February. It is a family holiday. We wish our relatives a Happy New Year. During this month people visit each other and give each other presents. They wish wealth and success. The white colour symbolizes happiness and richness. The Buryats eat white food: milk, dried scum, cream, curds and butter. Both the Russians and the Buryats visit Datsans and pray together for happiness and peace all over the world.
