Perhaps the most famous master of haiku is Basho. His students and followers in poetry became haiku masters who wrote many poems. In 1681, Basho wrote a haiku about a gate that became very famous:
"onto a dead branch
a crow has flied to settle.
evening in the autumn."

Neo haiku or modern haiku~
Differences
Today haiku is very popular style of poetry indeed. But some specialists who translate and study haikō are beginning to distinguish modern poems as separate: neo-haikō. They argue that the genre's ideas, styleare changing, that they are different from classical haiku.
