Delays at customs
In the process of customs clearance, delays often occur, both due to incorrect paperwork for a certain type of product or the usual bureaucratic delays. As a result of such "slips", delivery times are disrupted, which is fraught with fines and even termination of contracts. In addition, the delay of cargo at customs requires the organization of its proper storage in the airport terminal, and can also lead to its damage. The latter, first of all, concerns food, medicines, flowers, seedlings and other goods with limited shelf life and requirements for strict observance of a certain temperature regime.

Even more problems arise with improper preparation for customs control or a protracted procedure for obtaining permission from regulatory authorities when it is necessary to deliver live goods: commercial and decorative aquarium fish, pets, livestock, poultry, etc.

When organizing domestic air transportation, customs clearance is not necessary. This reduces the cost of the service and removes some of the issues, making this delivery method one of the most popular in the Russian Federation, where the sender and recipient are often separated by hundreds of kilometers and several climatic zones. However, difficulties with air transportation may arise in this case.

Type, weight and dimensions of the cargo
Goods that do not fall into the dangerous category according to the current classification are allowed to be transported by plane without any special restrictions. The list of dangerous goods is constantly being updated and supplemented. Insufficient experience of the specialists who place the order often leads to the fact that the airline subsequently refuses to transport the goods. Experienced logisticians not only know thoroughly what products can be difficult, but also ensure the air transportation of dangerous goods in full compliance with the safety requirements declared in special Annexes to the Chicago Convention.

When choosing a carrier for transporting a large consignment of goods, it is necessary to choose a cargo aircraft with sufficient cargo capacity. It should be borne in mind that transport aircraft differ significantly in this indicator. The same applies to volume and dimensions: long-range and oversized loads can not be loaded into every cargo compartment. In some cases, loading is impossible due to the insufficient size of the hatch, in others, the device of the aircraft deck becomes an obstacle. An alternative solution may be an external placement on the fuselage, but this possibility should be provided by the design of the aircraft and the type of cargo.

Poor logistics
It would seem that the organizational issues of air cargo transportation are solved easier and faster than during transportation by any other means. In fact, this applies only to those cases when all the requirements are met and the slightest nuances are taken into account. Otherwise, the carrier is either unable to guarantee fast delivery of the goods, or assumes such obligations, but breaks the deadlines.

For example, during a period of increased demand for air delivery services - before the New Year holidays, March 8, etc. – a transport company may face the inability to fulfill the contract within the agreed time at the prices indicated in the price list. This problem does not concern logistics organizations in any way, reserving blocks in the cargo compartments of aircraft at fixed prices for a long-term period.

Poor logistics often leads to the fact that a transport company is able to recoup its services only when working with bulk cargoes. Contacting such an organization is almost always fraught with a delay in sending the goods. If the delivery time is not critical, this can be ignored, but only when you are sure that your cargo will be waiting for shipment in a securely guarded room with the right temperature, humidity, etc.
