The Russian system of education (система образования) is different (отличается) from the English system.
Children start studying (обучение) at primary school at the age (в возрасте) of 7 and finish it at the age of 11.
Then they go to secondary school, and it lasts (длится) 5 years (from 11 to 16 years). After secondary school pupils can continue (продолжить) studying at high school or they can leave school (закончить обучение в школе) and go to a professional college.
Education in high school lasts 2 years.
Teenagers enter (поступить в) a university at the age of 18 and study there for 4-5 years.

Some facts about school education in Russia:

school year starts on 1st of September and ends (заканчивается) at the last days (последние дни) of May;
pupils (ученики) study 5 or 6 days a week;
classes start at 8 am and last until (длятся до) 1:30 pm (+ also a second shift (смена);
a class lasts (длится) 40-45 minutes with a 10 or 15 minutes break-time;
pupils have 5 or 6 classes every day;
the basis (основные) colors of school uniform are dark blue, black, grey and white.
