What were you doing this time last year? I’d just started a new job helping to launch a brand-new magazine in Derby. Four issues in, and I can honestly say that no matter how high my expectations were, I would never have been able to foresee just how rewarding this project would be and how well it would be received. Over the past twelve months, I’ve learnt so much and met so many remarkable people. Derby’s African and Caribbean population is abundant with talent, aspiration and innovation, and while we can only fit so much into a 36-page magazine, I hope that we’ve captured at least a fraction of what our city’s underrepresented communities have to offer.
