First aid - is a set of simple measures performed in the area of impact mostly in a manner of self-aid and mutual aid and also by the members of rescue and salvage teams with use of authorised and improvised means.

General principles of first aid
- It is necessary to stop the action of adverse factors.

- Reduce the time before starting to administer first aid.

- It is very important to determine the kind and degree of the damage quickly and correctly.

- Remove or weaken the life threatening consequences (bleeding, cardio-respiratory arrest etc.).

- After administering of the first aid, if necessary deliver the injured person to the nearest clinic.

Burn is an injury of tissues and organs caused by heat, chemicals or radiation.

There are four degrees of burns based on the depth of skin injury:
I degree - hyperemia (blush), redness and cutaneous dropsy;
II degree - bubbling;
III degree - necrosis (death) of all skin layers and subcutaneous tissue;
IV degree - skin and deeper tissues necrosis (fascias, chorda, muscle tissues and bones etc.), charring.

1-st Degree Burn (Superficial) Injury of the outer skin layer only. Skin becomes red and dry, and tender as a rule. Such burns normally get healed in 5-6 days without leaving scars.
2-nd Degree Burn Skin redness, pain. Epidermis sublation with appearance of bubbles filled with transparent or slightly opalescent liquid. Skin gets healed normally in 3-4 weeks, scars may appear.
3-rd Degree Burn Death of all skin layers. Forming of dark-brown or black crusts. Rough scars stay on skin. Skin transplantation required.

4-th Degree Burn Tissues charring up to bones. Forming of black or brownish eschars.
