Если действие и условие совершения действия в сложном предложении относятся к настоящему или будущему времени и маловероятны, то в главном предложении употребляется глагол would+ инфинитив основного глагола, а в придаточном условном- глагол в форме Past Simple.

would +infinitive+ if+ Past simple
e.g. The doctor would see you tomorrow if you came at ten.
Глагол to be в придаточном условии употребляется в форме were для всех лиц множественного и единственного числа.
If the weather were fine, we would go for a walk with our pets.

If+ Past perfect+ would+ have + III form
If I hadn’t forgotten to wind the alarm clock, I wouldn’t have been late for school.
Если бы я не забыл завести будильник, я не опоздал бы в школу.
If I had had time yesterday, I would have sent the letter myself.
Если бы у меня было время вчера, я отослал бы письмо сам.
