London is the capital and largest city of England and the United Kingdom. It stands on the River Thames. London now has a population of about 9 million (2020). It is the third most populous city in Europe and accounts for 13.4% of the UK population.


London is one of the largest financial centers in the world. In 2012, London became the first city to host the modern Olympics three times.

Westminster Palace is the seat of the British Parliament. Westminster Palace was founded in 1050. It is situated in the center of London.
The Towers of the Houses of Parliament stand high above the city. On the highest tower there is the largest clock in the country which is known to the whole world as Big Ben. One can hear Big Ben strike every quarter of an hour. Big Ben is the biggest clock bell in Britain.

Trafalgar Square is the geographical center of London. There is a monument in the center of this landmark. It is known as Nelson’s Column. This square is used for walking, demonstrations and holidays. It is very popular among tourists and citizens.


Madam Tussaud’s is the most amazing wax museum in the whole world! It is visited by 2,5 million people every year. There are many different wax figures. You can see famous actors, singers and politicians. They are very similar to real people!

Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, is one of Britain's most attractive cities. It lies in seven hills and goes down those hills to the sea.
It's a city for people who like to walk. You are never far from green parks, gardens and hills - even in the main shopping streets. It's a busy and modern city.

The Royal Mile is Edinburgh’s most famous street. It connects Edinburgh Castle with the Palace of Holyrood house. It is home to parliaments old and new, law courts, a cathedral and churches.


Edinburgh Castle is an ancient fortress which is located right in the center of Edinburgh. Edinburgh Castle is located on the Castle Rock, at the top of the Royal Mile.

The Palace of Holyrood house is the official residence of the Monarchy in Scotland. Today, the Palace is a close focus for national celebrations and events in Scotland.
