«Christmas celebration»
Task 1. Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.
Christmas is the happiest time for children. For about a month before Christmas they begin carol-singing. They go from door to door and sing carols. People listen to them and give them little presents: cakes, sweets, biscuits and so on. In Russia there is also the same tradition. There is a tale that Santa Claus or Father Christmas gets into houses through chimneys and puts presents for the household and especially for children into the stockings which he finds on his way. The children believe in this legend and prepare the stockings for presents. Usually, they put them not far from the chimney, under the Christmas trees or near their beds. Late at night on Christmas Eve their parents crawl to the stockings and fill them with Christmas presents.

Hi, Vasya! I've just found two photos for our project "How to pass a winter day" and I'd like to tell you about them and share my ideas.
The first photo shows two girls sitting outside a house and making a snowman. They might be having a good time. The second photo depicts a family sitting on the floor at home and unpacking presents. They are exchanging some gifts. In my opinion, these photos will perfectly suit our project because they show two different ways to pass a winter day. In the first picture the girls are spending a winter day outside, while in the second picture the family are spending it at home.

I think that both ways to pass a winter day presented in the photos have their merits. For example, you breathe fresh air when you spend a winter day outside. Also, you are engaged in some activity and you can improve your mood with it and this is a real benefit. As for spending a winter day at home with the family, it has a considerable advantage- you can get closer to your loved ones.
Speaking of disadvantages of the two ways to pass a winter day, I reckon that after spending a winter day outside, you can easily catch a cold, become ill. Spending a winter day at home with the family has a drawback, too- it can make you bored and depressed.
If you ask me, I prefer spending a winter day inside. For instance, I usually spend my free time at home drawing and listening to music.
