History of the museum
The Museum of the World Ocean was opened in 1990. The first exhibition area was opened in 1994 on board the Vityaz research vessel. It was moored to the Peter the Great Embankment in Kaliningrad. In 2003, the main building of the museum with marine aquariums and exhibition halls was built there, on the embankment of the Pregoli River. And now a new wing is being built in the form of a sphere

Areas of activity of the museum
It is also the first comprehensive marine museum in Russia! It has expositions dedicated to shipping, marine flora and fauna, geology and hydrology of the world ocean, as well as a marine library and an operating ecological station.
