What is present continuous?
Present Continuous (настоящее длительное время)— it is used to denote a continuous action taking place at the moment
When present continuous is used - when it is necessary to emphasize the duration of the action in the present. The limits of "duration" can be different: the action can continue indefinitely or take a certain period of time - all these are cases of using Present Continuous.

Formation of the affirmative form of Present Continuous
In the affirmative form, Present Continuous is formed with the help of the verb to be and the verb with the ending -ing (present participle), while only the verb to be changes. Examples are shown in the table:

Negative form
Negation is built using the particle not - add it after the verb to be.

Interrogative form
To construct an interrogative form, you need to put the auxiliary verb to be before the subject.

Examples
Suggestion examples:

I am going to a swimming pool. – Я иду в бассейн (иду сейчас).

I am working. – Я работаю (в данный момент).

Compare how the meaning will change if the verb is in Present Simple:

I go to a swimming pool. – Я хожу в бассейн (вообще, регулярно, а не в данный момент).

I work. – Я работаю (вообще, не в данный момент).

Verbs that are not used in Present Continuous
Some verbs expressing perception, feelings, emotional state are not used (as a rule) in Continuous times, because they cannot express a long action. These include the verbs:
see — видеть,
hear — слышать,
feel — чувствовать,
know — знать,
understand — понимать,
want — хотеть,
like — нравиться,
love — любить,
hate — ненавидеть,
and other.
